On October 12, 2025, regional beekeeper Sabine Klein visited Nature Camping Brettmühlenteich with her info stand all about the fascinating world of honey bees. Under the autumn sunshine, numerous camping guests and visitors gathered to learn exciting facts about the life of bees.
Fascinating insights into the life of honey bees and the work of a beekeeper
Hands-on activities for young and old – from rolling beeswax candles to the observation hive
Tastings of various regional honey varieties from the Thiendorf area
The children were especially delighted: at the observation hive, they could watch the busy worker bees up close without getting stung. Sabine Klein patiently explained how a bee colony is organised, why bees are so important for our ecosystem, and how everyone can contribute to protecting insects. The handmade beeswax candles were of course taken home as souvenirs.
Nature Camping Brettmühlenteich, with its meadows, forests and lake, provides an ideal habitat for bees and other insects. The wildflower meadows around the campsite supply bees with plenty of food. Those staying at the campsite experience nature first-hand – from birdsong in the morning to the humming of bees among the summer flowers. This biodiversity is a special treasure that we want to preserve together.
"The bees clearly feel at home here – the natural surroundings at Brettmühlenteich are a paradise for pollinators."
Beekeeper Sabine Klein
